Remove Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop Sharing.

Take note: Remote Desktop Sharing is not available with Windows XP Home. You may request assistance from someone only using Windows XP Pro.

Where do you find it?

With the default Category Control Panel:

Head to Start
Select Control Panel
Select Performance and Maintenance
Select System
Select Remote Tab
Uncheck both "Remote Assistance and Desktop Sharing" options
Select the Ok button to apply the settings

With the Classic Control Panel:

Head to Start
Select Control Panel
Select System
Select Remote Tab
Uncheck both "Remote Assistance and Desktop Sharing" options
Select the Ok button to apply the settings

Send Free SMS from Air Tel

How to send unlimited free SMS using free SMS center Number:
1.) Go to Messages option and click on Settings
2.) Click on Message Center Number and proceed to add a new message center number.
3.) In Message Center Name field, write anything. For an example, “Free SMS”.
4.) In the Message Center Number field, write +919810051905.
5.) Choose Preferred Connection Type as Packet Data.
6.) Save the message center and activate it from the options.

Since we have selected Packet data as connection type, So, we have to do additional settings on our phone.
1.) Go to your phone menu and navigate to Settings => Phone Settings => Connection => Packet Data.
2.) In the settings of packet Data, edit the following options.
3.) Packet Data Connection => When available and Access Point =>Airtel Live
4.) Save all settings and you are done.

Note: Here we are using a CDMA message center number to send freeSMS from Airtel mobile. Since CDMA networks does not support 91 as the country code, you have to add 0 before every number. This is very important and if you make mistake here, this trick will not work.

Example: Suppose you want to send free messages to 9839098754, now while composing the SMS, type this number as 09839098754.

For using these settings you have to create a new GPRSaccess Point Manually.

How to Reduce Firefox memory consumption for Faster Browsing Experience

If we opens too many tabs in firefox, then we suspect the slowness of browsing experience comes from heavy memory usage by Firefox. Here is a nice trick for making firefox faster that earlier. All you have to do is:

1.) Type about:config in the Firefox address bar
2.) Search for browser.sessionhistory.max_entries
3.) Double click on the value 50, change it to 5.

Restart your Firefox to take effect!

Disable Shutting Down in Windows XP

You can prevent users from being able to shut down the computer. This might be useful in cases such as when you’re running a server and you don’t want anyone to shut it down inadvertently.

Navigate to:
HCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
And to:
HLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

In these locations, create or modify the DWORD value called NoClose and set it to 1. Reset it to 0 to enable shutting down.

Log out and log back in, or restart Windows, for the change to take effect.

Disable Right-Click on the Start Button

As part of securing the desktop, disable the ability to right-click on the start button and select the command options Open, Explore and Find.

Navigate to:
HCR\Directory\shell
And to:
HCR\Folder\Shell

For both these keys, rename “shell” to “shell.old“. Exit the Registry editor and right click on the start button: the options will not be available. To re-enable them, simply remove the “.old” suffix.

Lock Your Computer on Mouse Click!

Instead of pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL or windows + L to lock your machine you can create an icon to lock your machine. There are very simple steps by using it you can simply lock your computer using single mouse click.

• Right click an empty spot on desktop

• Select New and click Shortcut.

• In the Create Shortcut dialog box, type the following in the 'Type the location' of the item text box:

rundll32 user32.dll,LockWorkStation

• Click Next.

• In "Type a name for this shortcut", type (any name as u wish) and Click Finish.

• This will Create a shortcut on your Desktop.

• Now each time when you want to lock the computer , Just click on this shortcut.
